Explore an Ancient Trade Trail in the Southern Nevada Desert

Even though southern Nevadans live in the desert, there are many awesome and unique places to visit and travel to, you just must slither out of your comfort zone from time to time. I love to search for adventures and historical things. Sometimes it is hard to look at a place or subject and see what it used to be, compared to what you see it as today, but this is where your imagination comes in. Please just remember that there are usually fabulous stories behind the rusted, pile of rubble that lay in front of you now.

“Mojave Road Guide,” by Dennis G. Casebier is such an awesome book to plan your road trip. It has detailed route information and location coordinates for an adventure through time. The historical importance of the Mojave Road is that it’s an ancient trade trail that was first established by Native Americans, then later by Spaniards, and finally by early American settlers. The Mojave Indians considered it home initially. Many people have settled on the Mojave Road, establishing mines, water wells, livestock, and other means of survival. Still today, you can see occupied homes along the much-deserted road.

Here are a few of the cool things we saw on our offroad jeep adventure on the Mojave Road Trail:

The coin can collection!
The Frog Garden.....There are also Ducks in the garden for you Jeepers that don't have frogs!
The Mojave Road Mailbox...... Bring a nick knack to donate to the mail box!
Soda Lake
The Rock Monument.... Bringing good luck to all!
Colorado River.... Contemplating the safety of the pass! LOL

Whether it’s off-roading, hiking, exploring the great outdoors, or just getting away from the daily hustle and bustle of life, the Mojave Trail is something you must venture out to see. Have you ever been on this secluded desert trail? Please let me know what your desert adventures are in the comments below.
