Hurry Up & Snag Elvis Presley for Your Las Vegas Wedding Vows

Ah, as you may know, some swear that Elvis Presley is dead. Others say he has merely “left the room.”  But whatever your persuasion, if you are a betting person (which we assume you are, given you love Las Vegas), it is best now to cash in your chips and blue suede shoes and take an adventure travel junket to get hitched to someone special- or even random and cool – because the King of Rock and Roll may soon be forever nixed from your vows.

Yep, it appears the corporation in charge of all the rights belonging to Elvis – Authentic Brand Group (ABG) – has now decided to put their legal beagles on draining the swamp and seizing every cent they can from the good ol’ wedding chapels in Las Vegas because they are using the rights to market Elvis brand and likeness without their permission. Oh, my! You may be asking yourself why they waited decades and decades before issuing their cease-and-desist letters? Dunno. And Elvis is being very tight-lipped and only de-composing.

What we do know is that the lawyers have really shaken up all Las Vegas chapels and other venues that have some deathly kinship to Elvis- that’s a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on! And that also means the deadline to respond to the cease-and-desist letters of May 27, has come and gone. It appears the chapels are taking a wait-and-see approach, at least for now.

Given the wedding industry is a $2 billion venture in Nevada alone and the fact that Las Vegas has recently financially doubled down on reviving its “Wedding Capital of the World” brand mantra, while also just celebrating its five-millionth wedding in February, a whole lot of destination weddings and related jobs could hang in a precarious balance in Las Vegas and elsewhere.

Were you married in Las Vegas? Maybe you had Elvis at your wedding. Leave your story in the comment box and share your Las Vegas wedding experience.
