Yellowstone National Park turns 150 years old

Today is a very significant day, especially for nature and travel lovers. It marks the 150th year birthday of Yellowstone National Park, which has the distinction of being the oldest U.S. national park and the second largest.

Compliments of Mike Stotts

Founded on March 1, 1872, the vast 3,472 square mile park – 2.2 million acres – is located mostly in Wyoming, with portions in Montana and Idaho, and is replete with awesomely wild opportunities galore to observe a variety of wildlife in their natural ecological habitats; explore unique geothermal areas containing about half the world’s active geysers and other hydrothermal features and view countless breathtaking geologic wonders.

Last year 4.9 million visitors enjoyed Yellowstone.
