Voyages Near and Far

Visit Lake Mead now, water levels lowest ever.

A new adventure seems to be now that many people are heading to Lake Mead to see if they can “spelunk” and perhaps find something macabre. I can only imagine what Memorial Day will bring. Swimming, boating, diving or maybe just walking on water. lol

“Honey, that’s not a slimy fish, that’s a …ahhh!”

Waters are at the lowest level ever since the reservoirs were created in 1930 and now all sorts of things, once “treasures” of the Earth, are now being unearthed. Some were “buried treasures” meant to never be found, until now.

Lake Mead 1930's drought

What I find amazing after the two bodies were discovered – one in a barrel and the other just bones, on two different parts of Lake Mead – everything is true to Las Vegas form, meaning very hush-hush. They did have UNLV anthropologists look at it, supposedly, but nothing in the last couple of weeks ID reported.

As of now, there are only speculations as to whom the mysterious “barrel body” could be. The talk of the town is that investigators can place the incident between the late 70s to early 80s, based on the clothing that was sticking out of the barrel. The individual appeared to be shot in the head and stuffed in a barrel, then thrown overboard and sank roughly 100 feet underwater, several hundred yards from shore.

Is the Mob to blame? This barrel method was very common, across the country by mobsters at the time. What do you think? Leave a comment and tell me your opinion of what happened and when.

  1. I think that everything posted made a lot of sense.
However, what about this? what if you added a little content?

I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your blog, but what if you added
something that grabbed people’s attention? I mean LAKE MEAD LOWEST- voyagesnearandfar.com – INTREPID TRAVELER is a little plain. You might glance at Yahoo’s front page and note how
they write news headlines to grab people to open the links.
You might add a related video or a related picture or two to get people interested about what you’ve written. Just my opinion,
it might bring your blog a little livelier.
